Disneyland and California Adventures

Here are some of our vacation pictures we took in October. I'm finally getting to them!Towards the last few days of our vacation we met up with the Collins! Here are the cousins together again!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKEY! He turned 29! Our family and the Collins went to a nice mexican restaurant to celebrate! We had them sing a happy birthday song in spanish. LOL!

This was our first time in California Adventures. We had taken more pictures but after developing them I erased them from my camera and forgot to download them. We had 2-day parkhopper tickets to Disneyland and Adventures. We spent the first day in Disneyland. But our favorite ride was in Adventures. If you go, you have to ride the Toy Story ride. You get to shot at all these targets with your gun as they take you through the ride in your cart. I was pretty daring and rode California Roller Coaster with both Jakes and Tyler. I couldn't believe Tyler liked that one! I was terrified! What a good vacation this was for the family. I'm already planning one for next year!

In between Sea World and Disneyland we went to Dana Point. I think it was Doheney Beach. This was a nice warm day!

Here are the boys getting of the only roller coaster in Sea World. Cory was pretty brave to ride this one. I guess when the coaster hit the top Jake heard an "UH OH!" from Cory's direction. Tyler was lov'in it!

Dolphins! This was the best part (other than the Shamu show)! Seeing them so up close was awesome and the boys got to feed them too!

San Diejo

The first night in San Diejo we hit the beach. Mission Beach had a few roller coaster rides behind us and had some shopping stores that were pretty inexpensive.
Can you tell the humidity is getting to my hair. I probably would have looked like Monica in Friends when she had to braid her here to get it from froing, if I would have stayed longer!

Chase had NO Fear. He ran straight for the waves and wouldn't stop!

We should have know better than to have gone in Jeans. It was pretty cold that evening but, of course, that didn't stop the boys.

Chase and Mason never seem to forget each other when they are apart. They pick up right were they left off. They are two peas in a pod.

I forgot my camera AGAIN of course. So, these pictures are from Yersa's camera. Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures of our time at Doug's and Grandma Dena's. But, we had fun spending time with each other. We met Doug's sister and her family. And we were so glad to see Grandma Van Anda and Rachel. The food was Scrumptious!!

Jake and I went to The Garden House for dinner Saturday night for date night. It's always so nice to spend the alone time together. Lately I've been feeling a lot of gratitude towards Jake and all the hard work he does to take care of our family. Working 60 hours a week (not optional), I miss the time he could be home with the family. But I can't get over what a hard worker he is and how he always impresses those around him at work. I love you sweety and I feel so grateful to be your wife!

One of Jake's friends from flight school, Justin, was married this weekend. They had a nice backyard wedding in a house they rented in Las Vegas. Jake and I made it a weekend vacation date! Although we forgot our camera (predicable right!), we had a lot of fun together doing a little shopping, laying out by the pool and hanging out with his friends the night of the wedding! Thanks Babe! AND thanks to Grandma Dena, my parents and Yersa for watching the boys.

Brazillian Fest

Labor Day weekend was packed with family fun. We went to Gateway to celebrate the Brazillian Festival. They had a little bit of music, a little bit of dancing and a lot of food!

Saturday morning we went to an IBEW Electrical Union Picnic at the park in Magna. They usually have a huge drawing for prizes every year. So this year Jake was feeling lucky and said we were driving the truck incase the boys win a bike. Sure enough Tyler did! We didn't want Cory feeling left out so we stopped by Walmart to get him a bike also (they count as birthday gifts too). We also won a piano keyboard, a car model assembly, and a shooting water dart. Sunday we went over to Doug and Grandma Dena's place to eat a fabulous dinner and dessert. I took a picture of their place on the way out (forgot the camera in the car). Thanks for inviting us over and for a good time!

The 1st Day of School!

Look at these HANDSOME Boys! (Ha Ha, can you tell mom loves them!) They are waiting for the bus on their 1st day of school with all their new attire. I made them wait for school to start before they could wear their new clothes and shoes. Other than getting a little emotion that Cory started 1st grade and Tyler started 4th grade this year, all was great. It's just me and Chase for most of the day. WOW, do our kids grow SO fast!

FunNy STorY!!!

Jake took the older boys fishing to Beaver Mountain today. Jake got Tyler and Cory all set up on the shore and then went out on the lake in his float tube. Meanwhile, Tyler propped up his fishing pole against a rock after he casted out. When Tyler looked back at his fishing pole after a few minutes, it was GONE! A few minutes after that, the people fishing next to them caught a "Big One". The boy reeled in the "Big One" but to his surprise it was Ty's fishing pole! Tyler got his fishing pole from him and reeled in his line to find that the "Big One" was still hooked to his line!! Tyler was pretty excited to come home and tell me the story. I can see why!!

This picture doesn't do justice but yesterday Cory came running into the house crying and bleeding from his nose and his mouth! He knocked out his two front teeth when he ran into a car riding his bike. I asked him if a car had it him. In between his crying I finally understood it was a parked car! Don't ask. Anyway, my poor Cory's entire nose is straped up and now has a big gap in his smile (good thing they were only his baby teeth). It had to be Cory!

I was doing laundry around the house and when I passed Cory and Chase's room, Cory was doing his reading time without being asked (WAY TO GO CORY). And there was little Chase, sitting in the doorway next to his brother reading his own little book. It sounded a lot like little gibber-gabber. The example theory works. Although this one probably started with the oldest brother.

Because Jake has been home with us a lot more lately, I can't help but feel blessed for his companionship. Jake has been working back and forth as an electician and flight instructor for the last two and a half years. This week he will finish his flight hours (knock on wood) to be able to qualify for the airlines. Although airlines have stopped hiring because of recent gas prices (travel has slowed down quite a bit), we are hopeful for our future. We are now looking for a secure job as an electrician. As Jake has been accruing his hours, things have not been easy. We have reached many challenging times. But one thing I have learned is how important our relationships are. Family relationships are at the core of our happiness. Whatever job comes our way, we want to keep together! I love you Jakey!

Thursday to Friday we spent the night at Yankee Meadows! We had a lot of fun spending time with each other. We haven't been camping since our new addition (Chase). Our tent was a little small so we lowered the seats in the back of the Rodeo and had the big boys (Tyler and Cory) sleep in the car. Tyler helped his Dad start the fire while I put up the tent. And Cory....... well we just let him do what he does best- play with rocks and sticks and pretend to beat up "bad guys". He did help collect wood for the fire. Poor Chasey fell on his hands and knees a few times, hit his eye on the picnic table, burned his little hand, and bonked his head.

We were pretty tired by the time we got home. After we took our naps we went over to the Hennefers home (at the end of our street) to have a Barbeque and set off fireworks. We had a great time with all of our friends! Thanks Keri and Jordan!

Elder Rivera

Elder Rivera (my brother) entered the SLC Temple to receive his endowments a week before he left. I've been to the SLC Temple twice before but for sealings. I've never been to a live endowment session. It was really neat! It was a great experience overall but where I admit I lost it was at the Airport. He had been officially set apart the night before so when I saw him he had his badge and the whole works! Even his countnance felt different. Then I saw all the other missionarys about to leave their families to go where they have never been before, Brazil! What strong Men! I couldn't help but feel so proud. We love you Elder Rivera!!

Happy Birthday Babies!! As you might already know, Chase and Mason are only 11 days apart! So we threw them a party together last Saturday. Yah for cousins! Aunt Yersa made the babies these cute little personalized carrot cakes. Way to go Yersa! The cake classes are paying off nicely. Mason had no problem digging into the cake but, for some reason, Chase had to use his fork. The Collins brought water ballons to play with. The adults got the most use out of them. I can't Believe my baby is 1 year old!! Chase brings are family closer together and fills our days with happiness. How very neat it is to have a baby in the house!!

Heritage Park

Heritage Park was one of our favorite parks to play in when we lived up here in Cedar Hills. It's right next to Ty's elementary School he attended kindergarten at. So we had to take little Mason and aunt Yersa. Ty and Cory played in the stream and Chase and Mason chilled under the shade!

WOW! We have been busy! We have been traveling back and forth from Cedar Hills to Cedar City all summer long. Jake has been mostly working in Utah County as a electrician this summer while he has been accruing the remainder of his flight hours (Only 25 More! ). We have been staying at my Mom's house and have really enjoyed the family company. I will try to update our blog the next few days with our family adventures here in Utah County.

ALL right, he's my kindergarten Graduete but, he's getting so BIG! As you can see the program had a Barnyard theme. Very cute! The kindergarten kids sang a few songs they had learned throughout the year. My very favorite was the chicken dance song that that they moved thier little bums to and the song "I like School and School likes me, I'm as happy as can be!" They sang so loud with their little voices. Cory did a great job! I'm very blessed to have my Cory. How very dull our lives would be without you!

My Birthday was on the 9th! Two days from Mother's Day. I turned 28 years old! This birthday was a hard one. I'm getting old (I know what you're thinking) and their is so much I still want to do. Anyway, for my Birthday/Mother's Day, I got a massage from my parents (MUCH NEEDED), some facial waxing and roses, a balloon with sweetarts wrapped in it from my hun and the boys, free babysitting from my Aunt Kathy as long as I needed (thanks to you too Jules), and shopped the HOLY COW Boutique in Pleasant GROVE for some jewlery. Then Jake and I went to the movies for date night. We saw What Happens In Vegas which was a FUNNY one! I have to say it was pretty enjoyable! Thank you FAMILY!

Snow Canyon State Park

Well... This time last year I had a big old belly. So, this year we are happy to be out exploring on fun family trips that would have been impossible last year. This time we have Chase to take exploring also. We went hiking on Three Ponds trail in Snow Canyon State Park about 10 miles northwest of St. George.
We made sure to enjoy the warm sun while we were in St. George.
We didn't get to far before the boys were getting too hot and wanted to rest. Here are some of the sites we enjoyed the most!

We hit our 10th year anniversary! Last weekend we took the boys to Uncle Jack and Aunt Lulu's house in St. George while we went to Iggy's sports grill to eat. And today, we went out to lunch together, without any interuptions! I have to say that during the last ten years we have had our trials. But, I would not take any of them back. They have only brought us closer together. Thanks Jake for the greatest ten + years of my life!

Tyler Won 2ND Place!!

Last Night was pretty exciting. Jake and Tyler were able to put together a pine wood derby car during the last two days and had it done just in time for The Derby last night. To our surprise, it made it to the final rounds and took 2nd place! We were all pretty proud of our Tyler. Good job Ty! We love ya!

There is not a more perfect sport for Cory than Karate! He started on Monday and was so excited to come home and put on his karate suit. Yesterday they put on tons on protective gear and fought each other. The instructor told his opponent to go easy on Cory because it was his first time. LOL! Grandma Dena and Doug came down to visit us this last weekend. They arrived Saturday around noon. We went out to eat and were able to get them to play Guitar Hero! It took a LITTLE persuation but Gramdma Dena finally tried it. It was fun to have them stay the night and hope they will come again soon.

M&M World was 4 stories high! On the 2nd story Tyler and Cory personalized their own bag of M&M's. But, what do you know, Cory's hand slipped and he ended up with 1 lb of RED, milk chocolate, M&M's.

On the 3rd story, we watched a 3D film starring Red and Green M&M! And on the 4th story, we had a nice view of the Strip! I'd have to say this was my favorite thing we did!

Spiderwick Finally in the Movies

Tyler has been waiting for this movie to come out for some time now. Tyler is a BIG reader and has read all five of The Spiderwick Chronicle books twice!! So Jake took the family to go see it down in St. George last Saturday. Of course we had to wait for Dad (who we miss, a lot!) to get home from Vegas so we all could see it together. Tyler really liked it (and so did we) even though it was completely different from the books. Of course!

A Lost TOOTH!

Last weekend Cory had a cold(or so I thought it was a cold). I kept waiting for his cold to take its course but, it didn't get any better. Saturday night (after three days) we were trying to talk to him but was incoherent. So Jake took him to the emergency room and they diagnosed him with strep, tonsilitis, and ear infections. Poor little guy! He is feeling much better thanks to antibiotics! The only thing he's been diagnosted with this week is boredom. So this is Cory's little creative mind (which is greatly creative) trying to find fun things to do.

The Boys Room

This was my project this last week. I decided to paint the boys bedroom to match their quilt. I painted and Jake put up the trim. When the painting was done it sure did look BLUE! Anyway, after I arranged the furniture, the boys and I were pretty excited about it. Lets hope that is enough motivation for them to keep their room clean.

We went bowling for FHE last night. It was a lot of fun. Tyler beat us all! Chase sat in his Bumbo the whole time and watched the bowling balls hit the pins. Cory did a good job too. Although it seemed like the bowling ball was going 1mph he would hit the pins right in the center! Then this morning Jake took me out to breakfast to a place called Market Grill. It reminds me a lot of Sundance. It has that cabiny feel. The food was really good and it was nice to go out with just him, kinda (Chase was with us). It was a nice break!

So, I was cooking dinner last night and I heard Jake from the back room say Chase has a poopy. He likes to think that is my department, not his. I had chicken cooking in oil so I couldn't really help him out. Anyway, he came out of the bedroom with a naked Chase. It had gone through his diaper and up his back all over his clothes and all over our sheets. It was hilarious! He cleaned, bathed, and dressed Chase and did a very good job! Thanks sweety for your support!

NIBBLES

We found out that gerbils get depressed when they are by themselves. So, now we have two! We went down to St. George a couple of weekends ago and bought Nibbles for Tyler. He is still just a little baby so he is much easier to catch when he escapes. Max is much happier but still tries to run away from us. We have had to leave him out overnight a couple of times because we couldn't find him. He's a sneaky little sucker!

This is Max. Cory had been asking Santa for a pet mouse for a while. Instead of getting a pet mouse, he got a pet gerbil. And it wasn't Santa who brought the gerbil it was Aunt Yersa and Uncle Jake. Anyway, we took Max to school for show and tell today. I left him in a cardboard box next to Mrs. Topham's desk while I helped out in Tyler's class like every other Thursday. When I returned, Max had eaten through the top of the box and escaped. I guess it was a pretty funny site. Everyone in Cory's kindergarten class was trying to catch Max including Mrs. Topham! After many efforts Cory was finally able to catch him and put him in his ball to run around in. It was a pretty fun adventure in Kindergarten Today!

Snowed In In Beaver

On our way home from Christmas vacation in Utah County, we stopped in Beaver to have dinner at Wendy's. When we were done it had started snowing pretty bad. It was dark and home was only 45 minutes away so we thought if we took it slow we could make it home. As we got back on the freeway I could not tell where the freeway road started or ended! Everything was covered in white and all I could see was the snow my headlights were shining on. Everything else was pitch black. We drove to the next Beaver exit and stayed at the Quality Inn. I took a picture from our hotel room the next morning. The boys didn't seem to mind. They got to go swimming in their indoor pool with Dad. It was actually pretty exciting!

WOW! Do I need to play catch-up! Slowly but surely I'll get there! So, a week before we left to spend Christmas with family, Jake and I decided that we'd take out our little tree and decorate it before we left. Jake finally got a break between school and work and stopped by the storage to get our christmas tree. Even though we didn't cut a real one down this year the boys had fun decorating the tree. Mom put on the lights and ribbon. Tyler and Cory hung everything else!

Along with spending some time with family, Jake and I were fortunate enough to see our good friends from high school. Saturday night we went to La Vinga with Kyler and his wife Julia(sitting to the left) and earlier that day we went to visit Adrianne and her husband Sterlin at their place in Orem. Yeah! We didn't expect to be taking pictures of the boys together this last weekend. Jake had to go to a meeting in Salt Lake and we all ended up going. We sure surprised Grandma and Grandpa! Look at that grin on Mason's face.

Yesterday was pretty crazy! I got up in the morning and had the opportunity to go to the gym. Jake was home in the morning and I wanted to make the 9:00am cardio pump class that Krista mentioned she was going to. I haven't gone to the gym since it made Chase real sick from being in the gym daycare. So I left Chase with Jake and off I went! Yay, I was so excited! I hadn't been in over two months. When I got there I thought "I don't need to take it easy. This stuff is cake" Well... about 10 to 15 minutes into the work out I felt like I was going to pass out. I stopped and rested for a few minutes but that wasn't enough. I had to leave the class and step into the ladies room. I had to puke. Fortunately I was able to sit down and rest for like 15 minutes until I felt better. When I got home our carpet in the master bedroom for some reason was wet. It kept getting more wet as time went by. Jake and I assumed it was a cracked pipe underneath our house and the water was coming up through a crack in the concrete. So, we called the real estate agent and he called the superintendent and he called the pumber. They all came over and pulled the carpet up. Yes it was soaked but, not because of a broken pipe. We later found out that someone or someones in the BOYS bathroom (won't mention names) showered with the shower curtain out of the bath. All the water leaked onto the floor and under the bathtub and into our room! We were happy it wasn't that severe but a little embarresed. When Cory came home from school I noticed his checks where bright red. When I inspected his body he had broken out in hives all over his back, chest, arms and face. I'm almost sure his allergic reaction was from all the sour ice breakers he ate! Anyway, I took him to the doctors and we bought his medication. He is doing much better. WHAT A CRAZY DAY!

An Alien, a girls hat, or just stinkin' cute?

We bought Chase a new winters hat on the day after Thanksgiving. I thought it was stinkin' cute but Jake says it looks like a girls hat. Tyler and Cory says he looks like an ALIEN! What do you think?

Home Depot Workshop

This months Home Depot workshop was a memory Tray. Jake took the boys yesterday to make their trays. They were able to make it all on there own with just a little bit of help from Dad. Good job boys!

Cory was really excited about his Thanksgiving feast! All the kids helped make some side dish and Cory made cornicopias out of Bugles and Trix cereal. They were so good I bought some so Cory could make them for Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Byron. We sure missed the Collins this Thanksgiving!!
